Sarah Kay Christmas Card

Oh dear, not long now and I am nowhere near ready are you??? I still have all the food to organise AND buy and all the presents to wrap...yikes! It is my husband's birthday today...awkward so and so having his birthday in the middle of the busiest week of the year LOL! I only finished his card last night as I have been so busy with Christmas cards I kept on leaving it! Still got to help my little boy make one while Daddy is at work today, talk about last minute! Anyway, onto my card....

This is another of my last minute commission cards. I didn't want to part with this one, I was so pleased with how the writing turned out and I used one of my favourite stamps and colours! I had made that many cards in two evenings (6!) that I just couldn't think any more and had used all the sketch challenges I could find so decided to just use the image to fill the card to save on time. The papers are Basic Grey, Wassail collection and I have distressed the edges with scissors and brushed cordoruy distress ink and then stickled them.

The gorgeous Sarah Kay image has been coloured with copics and I have added stickles to the fur on her coat, it is actually very sparkly but I cannot get it to show up with this dull weather, roll on spring LOL! I have also used a gold gel pen on the mail box and her bag. I stamped around the image mat with a Whiff of Joy Christmas swirl using antique linen distress ink and covered in stickles. The sentiment I have written with a gold gel pen. I was going to use my calligraphy pen but thought black would look too harsh and the gold ink I bought for my pen is really not good, it is so pale you can barely see it! The alphabet style was copied from the really old sign writing book course book I have. It was given to me by a friend of my Grandparents who saw my calligraphy on a Christmas card I made them when I was about 10 and was impressed LOL (he was a signwriter by trade and still had his college books). It is bound in brown leather and has lots of different alphabet styles in it, including the fancy swirls I've drawn around the W!
There wasn't much room for embellishment so I have added a thin green ribbon recycled from a jeans label and the brad and spacer are from the Hobby House.

Hope you like it and thanks for looking! x
