Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - fern's sketch

It is time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge and this month we have a gorgeous sketch by Fern for you!! The design team are also showcasing Ruth's own digi images from A Passion for Stamps on our cards!! I have used Ruth's Anthurium image on my card. My papers are a mix from my stash and I've inked the edges with vintage photo distress ink.
There are a lot of possibilities for colouring these Anthuriums as the come in a lot of colour combinations!! I opted to colour mine the same as some I once received in a bouquet from my husband. I had never seen them before and was amazed at the gorgeous almost plastic looking green flowers with pink stamens!! To make my image look even more like the real thing I have given leaf part a coat of glossy accents.
The sentiment is from the Stempelglede Just a Note set, stamped with tea dye distress ink. The ribbon and gems are from The Hobby House.

Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this month at Crafty Calendar Challenge!! The rest of the team have made some gorgeous cards for your inspiration too! Pop over and have a look!

Unfortunately this is my last DT card for the Crafty Calendar Challenge, I have decided to step down from the team to ease my DT commitments! Thank you Georgia, Lisa and the rest of the team for such a wonderful time on the team! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - Christmas and Snowflakes

It is time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge and this month the theme is Christmas with the added option of including snowflakes. I just had to use this gorgeous hAnglar cutie! This challenge is about the only time I get to use them LOL! The papers are a mixture from my stash and I've distressed them with walnut stain distress ink and sewn them too.

I have coloured the image with copics and then I've paper pieced the pennant flags with pieces of the backing papers.
I used the gorgeous new Whiff of Joy snowflakes die for the snowflakes and inked the edges with walnut stain ink too. The pearls are from The Hobby House.
The pennants die is also from Whiff of Joy -perfect to match this image! I've also used the Magnolia Tilda Lace die.
Hope you like it and can join us this month at Crafty Calendar Challenge! Pop over to the blog to see the rest of the gorgeous cards from the team! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - It's our birthday!!!

Woohoo!!! Can you believe it is a year since Georgia began the Crafty Calendar Challenge!?!?! I certainly can't - it has gone sooo fast!!! To celebrate we have some amazing prizes and Georgia is joining us as Guest Designer as she has had to hand over the reigns due to exams. (Great to have you with us this month Georgia). Our challenge this month is birthdays with the added option to use autumn colours. Perfect reason to ink up this cute hAnglar with her hat and scalf on! The papers are Bo Bunny kitchen spice collection distressed with vintage photo distress ink and stickles.

I've coloured the image with copics to match the papers and added stickles to her wings.

Even though I do say so myself I'm really pleased with my spotty flower on this card LOL! I have made it from the reverse of one of the papers using Tim Holtz tattered florals die and scrunched it up before adding a button. I think it is the spotty paper that is making me like it so much LOL! I also added some WOC flowers and the orange flower is a Hero Arts flower folded up. I added some fern leaves punched with a McGill punch too.

The rustic looking dragonfly was a bargain find I've had for ages that came on a ready to use tag which I removed :).

Hope you like it and can join us this month at Crafty Calendar Challenge! Thanks for looking! I will be back shortly with my Just Magnolia challenge card too so hope you can pop back! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - Blue!!

It is time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge and this month we would like to see blue as September's birth stone is the sapphire. The optional extra is to include flowers. I have used the sketch at Create 4 Fun for my card. The papers are a mix from my stash and I've distressed the edges with faded jeans distress ink and stickles.
My cute little boy is from hAnglar & sTanglar, coloured with copics. I'm so ashamed, I've had this set for about a month now and this is the first time I've had the opportunity to ink any of them up - slapped wrists!!
I added a gardenia by Petaloo and some blossoms from Wild Orchid Crafts, all sprayed with pearl glimmer mist. The leaves were punched with a Woodware punch.
The baby shoe charm is from The Hobby House and the bottle from Whiff of Joy. The lace is from my stash.
Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this month at the Crafty Calendar Challenge! Pop and see the rest of the teams gorgeous creations! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - Around the World

We have our very first sketch for you at Crafty Calendar Challenge along with our theme for this month which is "around the world". It is a sad day for us at the Crafty Calendar Challenge though as the lovely Georgia, founder of the challenge is having to step down to concentrate on her exams. All the very best of look Georgia and you will be greatly missed! Back to my card, and again the Magnolia summer kit came in handy!! The papers are by K&Co, distressed with vintage photo distress ink and stickled.
I have coloured Tilda with copics and added glossy accents to the porthole.

My "luggage lable" was recycled from some jeans and I have used a Simon Says Stamp exclusive stamp set for the Rome sticker. I also added a flower from Tim Holtz.
The shrink plastic Eiffel Tower charm was made using another stamp from the Simon Says Stamp exclusive kit. I have tied it to some jute string from my stash. The border is cut with a Tim Holtz on the edge die and the lace is from my stash. The sentiment I have hand written with a white gel pen onto some of the waste lable cut with a tag die.

Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this month at Crafty Calendar Challenge! The rest of the team have created some gorgeous inspiration for you too! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge DT - Bugs & Beasties

This month at Crafty Calendar Challenge we are challenging you to make a card with bugs on it for the summer months (hopefully LOL) with the added option of including wings. I just had to use one of my new hAnglar & sTanglar images for this card - isn't she adorable all dressed up like a bee!! The papers are from MME Bella Bella paper pad, distressed with vintage photo distress ink and stickles.

I have masked the image together with a fence from Whiff of Joy to create a little summer scene. I have coloured the images with distress inks. The swirls around the edge have been stamped with a Stempelglede stamp using bundled sage distress ink and then stickled.

The charm and pearls are from the Hobby House and the spacer is from Whiff of Joy. The chiffon ribbon is from my stash. I have used MS doily lace punch along the bottom edge.

I have punched the top of the image surround with MS butterfly edging punch and added some more butterflies punched with various MS punches.

Hope I have inspired you to join us this month at Crafty Calendar Challenge. Check out the blog for some more gorgeous inspiration from the rest of the team! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge - The Great Outdoors!

Yippee!! It is the first Friday of the month and that means it is time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge! This month we would like to see creations depicting the "great outdoors". This can be through colours, images, whatever makes you think of the great outdoors. The great outdoors makes me think of the colour green so I just had to use green papers. These Bo Bunny papers are a little bright but I quite like the finished effect!
This challenge was the perfect excuse to ink up a little hAnglar I have - isn't she cute riding her bike? - perfect for the outdoor theme too! I've coloured her with copics.
I have used a MS butterfly punch around the page punch on one of the image mats - LOVE this punch!! The small butterfly on it's own is from the corner punch, I just cut the bottom of it following the shape of the wings. The gems are from my stash.
I added lots of fresh looking white flowers to complete the outdoor feel. The roses and gladioli spray are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the other flowers are from my stash. I punched the leaves with a Woodware punch. The large butterfly nestled amongst the flowers was punched with MS Monarch Butterfly punch.

Hope you can join in this month - can't wait to see your outdoor creations! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge

Happy Easter on this Good Friday morning! It is already time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar challenge - thank you all so much for your gorgeous flowery creations last month! This month, in honour of April Fool's day, our challenge is to make a funny card with the option of embossing. It can be a funny image, funny sentiment or even both! My Tim Holtz stamp set has been very busy this week, here is another of his sentiments, which, when teamed with this cute image from Mo's Digital Pencil, I thought was funny (well mildly amusing). I must admit, I struggled as I don't really have any funny images! The stunning papers are MME and I've distressed them with faded jeans distress ink and stickled the edges.

I have coloured Kai in the Rain with copics and then I have embossed in silver the raindrops and press-studs on his coat. I have finally taken the plunge and am now the excited and proud owner of a Big Shot!!! (Well hubby very generously talked me into it as a belated Mother's Day present) I'm completely hooked on it already although I need some more practice with the stencilling through the nesties LOL!

I've used another nestie for the sentiment mat and I have stamped with weathered wood distress ink.

The stunning red rose is from Hobby Craft and has been sprayed with glimmer mist, the leaves are from a Woodware punch. The beautiful aqua gems are from the Hobby House and the buttons are Basic Grey.

The little brads are also from the Hobby House. Aren't these little dancing umbrellas cute!?

Hope you like and I have inspired you to join in with us at Crafty Calendar Challenge! The rest of the team have some great funny cards for your inspiration too! Thanks for looking! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Floral

It is time for another challenge at Crafty Calendar Challenge today!!! woohoo!!! Thank you all so much for your gorgeous entries last month! We have a great prize from this month's sponsor Simon Says Stamp and the challenge this month is "Floral" with the added option of using pastel colours. Great challenge for this time of year don't you think! I have made a door hanger for my friend's little girl. I made one for her sister's birthday so it was only fair I made one for Lucy too!! The gorgeous papers are BoBunny and I have used both sides for my project. I don't usually go much for yellow but I loved this pastel shade of it when I saw it and it is perfect for spring!
I used this gorgeous Tilda from the winter kit, coloured with distress inks and I have given her chocolate hearts for her cone to match in with the papers.
The large flower is made up of various Prima flowers and a gorgeous pearl brad. I stickled the top flower and sprayed it with glimmer mist as it looked a bit dull. The daisies are from my local store, Running with Scissors and the butterfly gems are from my stash. I punched some swirls with my EK success punch from green cardstock.
The stick on die cut letters are by Doodlebug, they were pink but I inked them with distress ink and added stickles over the top. The gorgeous daisy lace was on an old outfit of my daugthers that I just had to snip off LOL!
On the back I simply added my personal stamp and a couple of swirls and butterflies to match the front.
Hope you like it and thanks for looking! Pop over to the challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's gorgeous creations and I hope you can join us this month! x

Crafty Calendar Challenge - Love/Friendship

Gosh isn't January such a long, long month LOL!! It seems like ages ago I posted the last Crafty Calendar Challenge!! Thank you so much for all your keeping warm entries, you all had some amazing ideas!! This month, as it's February, the month of St Valentine we have a theme of "love/friendship" for you with the added option of hearts. For my card I have used a gorgeous K&Co paper, torn at the edges and distressed with vintage photo distress ink.
I have used Charlotte with Birdcage from the recently released Whiff of Joy Happy Mail collection, coloured with copics. I have punched a MS heart lace punch along the bottom edge of the image and added some pale pink pearls up the sides.
I embossed this gorgeous heart flourish stamp from Stempelglede in gold on a coordinating K&Co paper and cut the central heart out so that I could place the outside part of the heart flourish under the image and the heart on the top for a layered look.

This is a different heart from the Stempelglede collection, again embossed in gold onto K&Co paper.
To finish I added an organza ribbon in cream with a paper flower and some jute string from my stash and a pearl brad from the Hobby House.
Hope you like it and can join in this month's challenge. Pop over to the blog and see the rest of the teams creations - they are stunning!! Thanks for looking x
