My first layout!

I'd like to show you my first ever (and hopefully not my last LOL) scrapbook layout. I've wanted to try my hand at this for ages and was finally convinced to have a go when my local craft shop Running with Scissors held a "same but different" challenge in December to create a scrapbook layout using items that were given to us. Everyone receives the same items, it is great seeing how different people use the exact same things! Again, I forgot to photograph what I was given LOL. In the package were: a paper doiley; a ribbon slider; two wooden painted stars; two wooden painted rocking horses; 3 different sized paper buttons; a red paper flower and some red rikrak. The paper, gems and other flowers are from my stash.
I dug out a couple of Christmas photos, one of my tree and the other of my little boy at Christmas when he was one. Hours later after being sidetracked looking at all the cute baby pictures I carried on with the scrapbook page LOL! I sponged the edges of the photos with vintage photo distress ink and mounted them onto some torn burgundy paper. I then overlapped them and added gems where the two photos meet, topped with the flower from the kit which I stickled and added a gem to.
I coloured some stick on die cut letters red with a copic (they were pink) and stuck each one onto a torn square of K&Co gold paper to give myself some letter tiles to add a bit more interest to the layout.
The doiley I cut in half so that I could have some peeping out of the top and bottom and then added a random display of Prima poinsettias, stars and the rest of the items from the kit, all of which were distressed with vintage photo distress ink.
The rik rak was simply added along the top and I used some gingham check ribbon from my stash to create a bow with the ribbon slider. Hope you enjoyed looking at my first forray into scrapbooking! I might return with some more one day LOL! x
