Simon Says Stamps Challenge DT - Father's Day/Male card

Thank you for all your entries last week, they were gorgeous!!! This week we have a theme challenge for you, and that is to make a Father's Day card or card for a male.

I have used the colour challenge at Colour Create Challenge for my card which is "soft green and pale aqua". Now, I wouldn't have thought to put these colours with orange card stock if you'd asked me but I held my papers against every colour I have and strangely this one looked really nice!!!! Probably because of the red lines in the argyl patterned paper! The papers are MME Quite Contrary - I just can't get enough of these papers - love them!! I've distressed them with vintage photo distress ink.

I have used four Magnolia stamps for my card, Edwin chasing butterflies, Open Gate and two butterflies from the spring kit - all available from Simon Says Stamp! I have masked Edwin and the open gate stamp together. They are all coloured with distress inks except I thought it would be fun to paper piece Edwin's jumper with the argyl paper! I have added buttons to his jumper using liquid pearls and also added studs to his shorts and stamens to the flowers with gold liquid pearls. I have inked the edges of the image with Weathered Wood distress ink and added some faux stitching. I'm really missing my sewing machine!! I have a new craft desk and my machine doesn't fit on it :(. I really need to find somewhere else for it to go - it's very old and heavy and I can't lift it so it has to stay out LOL!

I have punched some of the cardstock with MS double loops punch and added some ribbon from my stash. The button is from Basic Grey and the tag is by Tim Holtz.

Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this week at Simon Says Stamps Challenge! Check out the rest of the DT's creations - gorgeous as always! Thanks for looking! x

Hi Jane
love the card, like you said it does suit the orange you have used. I am like you with your sewing machine (in that I have no room on my crafting table) to leave it out all of the time, so I am trying to persuade my husband that I need a bigger crafting space, (at the moment he has offered me the shed) lol.

Fab Jane, the idea of paper piecing Edwin's jumper really works, and the orange card just seems to make the whole thing 'pop'
