Just Magnolia DT - Special monthly challenge

It is the first of the month which means it is time for our special monthly challenge at Just Magnolia with a fab prize from Simon Says Stamp up for grabs! You may remember from last month that we have altered our special challenge to "anything goes". Some of the DT, myself included, have gone with the original challenge for this week which was to make a special Christmas project. I wanted to have a go at one of the cards which include a tealight gift that I've been seeing around. I also made it into an easel card as you can see as I didn't have time to search for a tutorial and couldn't see how it was going to stand up with the candle box on it otherwise!

I have used some gorgeous Magnolia Christmas papers from last year which were too gorgeous to cut but I've managed too now LOL. I stamped around the edges of the paper with some Stempelglede stamps with walnut stain distress ink.

I am so in love with this new Christmas image, this is Tilda as Lucia and I think she is just breathtaking!! To me she seemed to need to be white and floaty so I've coloured her with distress inks to get the look I wanted. I added some stickles to the star. I love her little freckles!

The gorgeous flower is from Wild Orchid Crafts, sprayed with pearl glimmer mist and I added some holly leaves using a sizzix die. The pearl and wire spray was actually trimmed from my wedding tiara as it was too big for me. I've kept it for ten years as I knew I'd use it eventually but being part of my tiara meant I didn't really want to give it away - the solution? I am going to give this card to my hubby for Christmas so then I'm not really parting with the pearls LOL!

On the base of the easel card I have added a tag cut with a Doo Hickey and attached it with ribbon so that it can be turned over to write a message without removing it from the card.

Here is a close up of the tealight holder at the bottom of the easel card. I simply inked the edges with walnut stain distress ink. The gold snowflakes are from The Hobby House and the pearls were a gift from Lols :).
