Magnolia Down Under Challenges DT - A Gift

Time for another challenge at Magnolia Down Under Challenge and this week we'd like to see gifts made with those Magnolias! - no cards allowed! I knew exactly what I wanted to make (well repair actually).

Earlier this year my little girl received a cuddly polar bear toy in a travel case. She LOVES the suitcase soooo much, as you can see it is well used and after she decided to stand on it to try to reach something the bottom collapsed and was repaired by my husband in a not very attractive way! She carries it around all the time full of picnic things LOL. Rather than put it in the bin I thought I'd cover it to repair it........

...... and here it is now!!!!! I almost want it for myself it is so cute LOL!!! I covered it with the most gorgeous papers from my new Tilda Wintergarden pad (no not our Maggie Tilda - what a coincidence!). It took a good couple of hours to cover it all but it has strengthened the bottom and lid that were broken!

Here's a close up of the top. So girly, it made such a refreshing change to make this after all the Christmas cards! I added Magnolia doo hickey swirls and leaves. Usually I would only attach the base of the leaves but knowing how my little girl is I glued them down completely LOL.

The gorgeous butterfly die cut was a birthday gift from the gorgeous Debbie P!! Thanks again hun!! I added some cute little flower beads to the body from The Hobby House.

I added a selection of flowers from my stash in pinks and white. The gem flowers are Prima flower centres.

I have to show you a close up of my daisies! You may remember I bought a ribbon shredder at the NEC - I made the two daisies using it and some stamens.

I didn't have a complete set of letters for her name in the same style but I think it gives it a cute childlike writing look! They are all from Tim Holtz grunge alphabets and I painted them with pickett fence distress ink and then inked the edges with victorian velvet distress ink.

I just had to use my Tilda in a hurry - she sums my daughter up so well, dashing about with things spilling out of the case LOL! I coloured the case to resemble the papers too!

I covered the inside in some more of the Tilda Wintergarden papers and also added a pocket edged with the Tilda lace die.

I made a little bag charm by stamping the Eiffel Tower stamp onto shrink plastic and then covering it with stickles. I attached it with a paper clip so it is easy for her to remove.

She also has her very own ticket to Paris that tucks into the pocket LOL!!!

The gems on the lid edge are from The Hobby House as is the gorgeous flower ribbon I used on the ticket and this bow!

Now all I have to do is keep it hidden until Christmas day - a feat in itself!! She has already found two of her Brother's pressies LOL! Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this week at Magnolia Down Under!!! You MUST check out the challenge blog - OMG the DT have absolutely outdone themselves this week with the incredible gifts they've made!!! Thanks for looking! x
