Just Because!!

For the first time in a long, long time I've made a card "just because" - no challenges, no DT's!! I'm not sure why but I'm feeling a bit urgh about my cards at the moment. I can't seem to think of ideas and then when I do they don't seem to turn out how I thought they would!! One thing I have always loved when I've seen it is kraft cardstock and colouring on kraft but until now I've been unable to find any kraft cardstock in the UK and the shipping from abroad cost more than the cardstock!!! Imagine how thrilled I was when I discovered bucket loads of it at my local garden centre!!!! eeeeek!!!! I couldn't fill the box quickly enough!!! It didn't even occur to me that it might not be the right kind and might be unsuitable for colouring on LOL! I bought a massive box full!!! Luckilly when I started to colour this image on Thursday I found that it is absolutely perfect to colour with copics on! They blend like a dream!!

So, I've coloured Tilda with copics appart from the white bits obviously - they are pencil. No, not any fancy Prismacolor or anything....my Son's Crayola pencil (that I've now stolen for my stash LOL!) As soon as I saw this Tilda I knew I wanted to have her leaning on a piece of ribbon!! the sentiment is from the Magnolia Winter Kit too. Have I told you how much I love this kit yet?? Every image is stunning, can't wait for the rest to come out although I'm sure my hubby and his wallet feel differently LOL! The papers are from the Basic Grey Curio pad. There is a gorgeous paper in there with a collage design with butterflies. Although I haven't used that paper it was the inspiration for this card. It reminded me of a butterfly house so I wanted to create the feeling of walking in a butterfly house with my card.

I used various MS butterfly punches to punch white butterflies and butterflies from the papers. I've added some tiny gems from my stash to the largest one.

I even decorated the inside!!! This time I used the cute mini Tilda from the kit along with the love and hearts corner stamped in white (barely visible on the photo unfortunately) and the "Happy Birthday" with Archival coffee.

Here's a close up of the mini Tilda with her cake!!! Hope she doesn't set her hair alight with all those candles LOL!!! I hope there is going to be a full size version of this one - I NEED one!!!

Hope you like it and thanks for looking! Have a great weekend! x

Wow Jane! I just love how this turned out. I've been eyeing of the colouring on kraft but not having prismas I hadn't tried it - so thanks for showing us that kids pencils work just as well! lol. Beautiful :)
I think after all of the Christmas cards we did recently its a little hard to change gears and go back to normal? I'm struggling a bit too. I have to wonder if it is simply our own perception of our work though - because it certainly is not showing in your work, it is as elegant and inspiring as usual!
Have a great weekend,
Big hugs
Kylie xx

Hi Jane,

I haven't seen colouring on Kraft before but it looks fabulous especially the white shirt!

All the butterflies are beautiful - I'm loving the tiny butterfly punch.

AND I love the inside!! I have to admit I thought the mini's were a waste ~ but what you did with the inside is brilliant! I am not thinking I might need some!

Stunning as always Jane. Just love how you have coloured Tilda and just goes to show you don't need expensive pencils ! I've got my eye on the girls' "Bling Magic" they had for Christmas ;o)

I'm going to have to try to colour on kraft. Funny, I found some kraft folders in my local craft shop this morning and snapped them up due to lack of kraft card. I must have a go now I have seen your results and hope it works on the card I bought !!

Have a great weekend.

I absolutely LOVE this --I always forget about using Kraft for the image --I think I've made one card using it & I really did like it, it's just one of those things --I always reach for the white, lol!! Thanks for reminding me how gorgeous Kraft CS can be!

Hi Jane, I am just loving your cards. They are so stunning. I am also glad to hear that I am not the only one who has 'confiscated' their child's pencils. Hahaha they work great really. Although I am no where near as adept with them as you are. Thanks for sharing your beautiful artwork. Hope you have a great day. :-)
