Simon Says Stamps Challenge DT - Anything but a card!

Woohoo!! Wednesday already and time for another challenge at Simon Says Stamp's Challenge!!! As always we have an AMAZING prize of $50 voucher to spend in the Simon Says Stamp store!!!! Our challenge this week is "anything but a card". The DT are all showcasing Tim Holtz' fabby products this week so if you have some we'd love to see them on your creations but it is not essential to join in!

Now, I'm not sure what Tim would make of this - I have used his products to make a necklace for myself! I have a store bought one very similar to this with a large fabric flower and all sorts of different charms and beads which I adore but the colours don't always match what I'm wearing so I thought I'd try to make myself one in a different colour way! I think I'm actually going to remake this onto a chain that matches the Tim Holtz bits as I'm not liking the gold but it was all I had. I've bought some alcohol ink to stain the chain with but have now discovered I need sealant as well for the ink to not rub off onto my clothes LOL! Anyway, I digress, here's what I did and used!

The first bit of Tim Holtz lovelliness on the necklace is the leaves from the metal foliage pack. The bead is one I've pinched from the kids beading things which I've covered with sticky back canvas!! I stamped the canvas with a Hero Arts stamp first and then inked it with Victorian Velvet distress ink. I then used Claudine Helmuth Multi Medium to glue bead caps onto it. Oh and I used a Tim Holtz tiny brad to fill the hole at the bottom of the bead.

Next is a flower from the Tim Holtz metal floral set and I've added a paper rose to this which I have covered in glossy accents so that it resembles a porcelain rose - quite pleased with how that turned out it looks very effective in real life! The button is from Basic Grey.
The gorgeous mother of pearl leaf I've had in my stash for ages - I THINK my Mum gave me it from some old jewellery but I'm not sure. I added a single gem to it for some sparkle. Next to it is another bead pinched from the kids :S. I liked the way the paint had rubbed off it showing the wood LOL!

I've also got a crown from Tim Holtz' ideaology range on there and the flower button is recycled off an old top.

I made a flower similar to the one on my bought necklace using sticky back canvas. I have cut the petals with Magnolia's Peony Doohickey die. I've stamped them with Tim Holtz' Fabulous Flourishes stamps using frayed burlap distress ink and then inked the edges of the petals with bundled sage distress ink. The gorgeous centre is a Prima pebble.

Hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us this week at Simon Says Stamps challenge. Maybe you might make some jewellery too! Pop over to the blog to see the rest of the team's creations - there is even a tag made by Tim himself!!!!!! (I'm sooooo not worthy to be on the same page!) Thanks for looking! x

Gorgeous necklace Jane, so pretty and I love all your different elements. You've just convinced me not to throw out the box of 'things' I collect - from feathers (from the duck pond), bits from old jewelry, beads and buttons etc. just hope I manage to use them as beautifully as you have!!
I had the same problem with gold chain - lol.
