Crafts and Me Challenge DT - Summer

Woohoo!! Well, they do say don't they that as one door closes another door opens and that has certainly been the case for me these past few weeks! I was thrilled to receive an email from Teresa from Crafts and Me asking if I would like to join her challenge blog digi team! Of course, I said yes - the images are so beautiful!!! The first challenge that I am joining in with begins today and we'd like to see your "summer" creations. The prize is the winner's choice of 6 digi images from Crafts and Me!! I am also entering my creation into the Shabby Tea Room challenge as their theme is flowers and the Bearly Mine challenge who's theme is also summer. Now, this challenge certainly got me thinking what kind of card I could do with a summer theme and then I remembered how my Mum had four of the most gorgeous art deco style mirrors on the wall when I was little with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter on them and that was it - I'll make my own seasons wall plaques! The canvas frame was in my stash just begging to be used and I've stamped around the edges of it with a Stempelglede stamp using frayed burlap distress ink. The gorgeous paper is by Prima and I've distressed the edges with vintage photo distress ink.

Now, the image isn't a traditional summer theme, it is called "Valentine's Night" but when I look at it I think of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and they look as though they are getting ready to go on stage to perform it so that is my link to summer :). I have coloured the image with copics and added stickles to the wings.

"Summer" was die cut with a Tim Holtz die from kraft cardstock and I have added liquid pearl dots to the letters. The gorgeous ruffle trim is also by Tim Holtz.

The flowers are from my stash - the fabric ones are by Prima.

All the flowers here are by Prima except the blue tulip from Magnolia. I can't remember who makes the leaf I'm afraid.

I cut a couple of the gorgeous butterflies from the paper to use as embellishments too and the gorgeous metal corners are by Tim Holtz.

I hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us at Crafts and Me Challenge. Pop over to the blog to see the rest of the team's gorgeous summer creations! Thanks for looking! x

Now then, Mrs, I hate to be the one who said "I told you so" but... In fact, I lost count of the comments that said there would be LOADS of people wanting to get you on board! I really am so pleased for you. The plaque is stunning - perfectly coloured and with such attention to detail. xx
