Hope you're all having a wonderful weekend! Mine has been a busy and exciting one as it was my Brother's wedding reception after his recent wedding in Italy. Of course, I had everything ready in time....oh no, that's right.....I left it all until the last minute......the night before!!!! I thought I would show you the whole gift set together today - there are lots of pictures so you might need a cuppa LOL! The picture above shows the whole set together.
This is the keepsake box I created for the wedding card, made with white pearlescent cardstock and lots of different Magnolia doohickey dies. I love how it turned out, so white and crisp looking with all the layers of dies. The little pearl brad is from Whiff of Joy.
The doohickeys on the front all tie in with those on the card inside.....for more details on the card please see the post here.
I had'nt planned to make anything for the gift card but then I was stunned by the most breathtaking cake box on my friend Tab's blog a couple of days ago and she was happy for me to create one myself. Now, this being an afterthought I didn't have a lot of cardstock left after I'd made the card box so I went for a round cake instead of the square on that Tab has made. Isn't it a gorgeous idea!? I will definitely be making one of these for every wedding I attend in future!
Also, with me not having planned to make it I didn't have any white pearls (argh!) so had to use pale blue but thankfully they don't look too bad - a bit like those little silver balls you get for cake decorating!
I used some lush pieces of lace from my stash to make it look like an intricately iced cake. The tiny butterflies were punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I used liquid pearls to pipe "icing" around the join of the two cakes.
he top is adorned with three roses from Wild Orchid crafts with the green calyx snipped off and another butterfly.
The lace on the bottom cake was very deep so I folded onto the top, which I have to say was a happy accident, I really like it!
I added some larger butterflies to the bottome cake and the whole thing sits on a "doiley" created with a nestie.
But this is not just a cake that is pretty to look at! The whole thing is, of course, hollow, so I created an opening at the bottom that closes with a brad hinged door - the perfect size to fit a gift card inside! Thank you so much Tab for your amazing inspiration - everyone at the reception was so impressed with this cake!
s we were unable to attend the actual wedding I made two little Bride keepsakes for Connor and Kara to give to my Sister in Law at the reception instead of at the wedding. The first, given by Connor is a wooden heart from The Hobby House which I have altered. I painted the whole heart in pickett fence crackle paint and then covered front and back with the same papers as on their card.
I added a selection of flowers from my stash and a metal butterfly from The Hobby House which I painted with white acrylic paint. I added some liquid pearls to the body.
simple rhinestone heart adorns the point of the heart.
On the reverse I embossed a Hero Arts sentiment in copper embossing powder.
The second gift, given by Kara, is a painted wooden horseshoe by East of India. It was already painted when I bought it but I thought it could do with some embellishing :).
I added flowers from my stash to match the heart and a smaller butterfly, also from The Hobby House.

Your gifts are really great as well as your wedding card. A big smile for your work. Very beautiful.
You've made so many beautiful creations whilst I have been unable to get around. I have loved going back through your blog to catch up. Of course I saw your stunning wedding card before and LOVED it to bits but now I see all this. Truly amazing! Love your little cake and the altered items but funnily enough it's your gift box for the card that I love so much. It's sooooooooooo Perfect! WOW! Hugs, Lesley
