Magnolia Down Under Challenges DT - Tic Tac Toe

Wooohooo!!!  I have been so excited about sharing this card with you that I made over a month ago now for my son's birthday!!  This card was a true labour of love and took over 8 hours to make but it was so worth it to see his amazed little face on the day!  We have a Tic Tac Toe board for you to play with this week at Magnolia Down Under Challenges and I used the line Edwin, Dies, Not Square for my card.  As soon as I saw Black Knight Edwin all those months ago I knew I wanted to create this card with him.  My son loves all things castle and knights so a jousting tournament was a perfect theme!
I've used the no lines technique to colour both Edwins which I have to say was really hard work on this complicated image but I got there in the end.  I've coloured with copics and added dots to the cheeks with a white gel pen.
Of course to make the scene realistic I had to have Edwin facing the opposite direction so it looks like they're about to set off on a joust so I stamped the image onto acetate and then stamped it onto the paper from the acetate.  This made this image even harder to colour as the stamping didn't quite show up in some areas!
The lettering and number 9 are from a Maja Design cut out sheet.  I have created the jousting fence with the Lovely Fence Doohickey, Flag & Cloud pennant Doohickey and the post from the Flags Doohickey.  The grass was created with a Martha Stewart punch.
I have added a background of bushes and trees as the tournament is taking place in the heart of the English countryside :).  I've used the Talk Bubble die for the bushes and the Slender Fir die for the trees.
I created the tent myself and have added some Fleur de Lis emblems by cutting off the tops of flagpoles from the Flags Doohickey set.
I embossed all of the flag poles with gold embossing powder for a regal look and each side has their flag flying to represent their colours!
The tent is topped with a flag and flagpole too.
Here's a view of the card from the side to show how it opens out.
I hope you like it and I've inspired you to join us at Magnolia Down Under Challenges.  Pop over to the blog to see the Tic Tac Toe board and the rest of the team's gorgeous creations.  Thanks for looking! x
