Magnolia-licious DT - Birthdays Blog Hop

Good morning and welcome to the Magnolia-licious Birthday Blog Hop!  If you've joined me from Karen's blog then you're on the right track.  If not, and you want to start the hop from the beginning then hop on over to the Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog.  I have made a party set for my nephew who turned two recently.  The set comprises bunting, a party hat, boat food server and straw.
Let's look at the boat food server first.  The entire set was made with Cosmo Cricket papers.  I used my scoring board  to create the plank effect on the sides of the boat and inked the ridges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink to define them.  I used the wave die from the Vol 1 Doohickey Kit to create the sea and the anchor was also cut with a die from the same kit.
Edwin Catching Fish has been painted with Distress Inks and cut out so that he can play in the sea.
The anchor threads through a hole in the side of the boat and finishes in a coil of twine on the deck.  Here you can see how the middle of the boat is used to serve party food.
The straw was made with the matching papers and the sail is also a die from the Vol 1 Doohickey Kit.
The flag on the top of the straw mast is from the Events Flags Doohickey set.
The boat's name was hand written with a white gel pen.
The back of the boat has a port hole to match the sides.
Onto the party hat.  I made a simple cone with more of the Cosmo Cricket papers.
I added thin strips of paper curled with scissors to create the trim on the top of the hat.  For the bunting I cut lots of triangles from the papers and stitched them to some orange ribbon with my sewing machine.  There is 5 metres of bunting altogether!
In this photo you can see the boat before it is filled with food showing the recesses for holding a drink and food.

I hope you like it and thanks for looking.  Now it is time to hop on over to Karen's blog to see her stunning birthday creation. x
