Whiff of Joy challenge - Piercing

Here is my DT card for this week's Whiff of Joy challenge. This week our challenge at Whiff of Joy challenge blog is piercing and there is a fantastic prize on offer from Simon Says Stamp! Now if you haven't got a piercing tool, as I haven't, don't dispair, I got a sewing needle and pushed the eye end into the rubber on the end of a pencil and used that, it worked perfectly! I thought I'd take this picture so that you can see the piercing I have done. I pierced around the edges, following the lines of the card and then I have pierced a swirl design.
Here is a close up of it on the finished card. The image mat has been stuck to some red cardstock. The sentiment is from the Whiff of Joy summer it, it is stamped in brushed cordoruy distress ink and then I cut an oval around it and distressed the edges with the same ink. I have then pierced around the edge.
I just love the little hearts on this Basic Grey sugared paper and this gave me the idea of using hearts as an embellishment to go with the sentiment. I drew some hearts in the same style as the paper and have coloured them with copics to match and added a heart charm which I have also coloured with my copics as it was silver so didn't go with the other colours too well.
The inside is decorated with the same papers and as there is a love theme to this card I decided to cut a huge heart for the message to be written on. I have pierced around this too and distressed the edges. The strip of yellow/orange paper where the two papers meet has also been pierced with a heart design.

Hope you like it and you can join us this week! Check out the Whiff of Joy challenge blog to see the rest of the DT's cards, they are stunning! x
