Today I wanted to show you another creation I made in November to submit to Magnolia Ink magazine. I bought a ready made papermache box shaped like a book from Hobby Craft and decided to make it into a place to keep love letters (not that I have any LOL but Magnolia Ink wanted love themed projects). I actually keep stamped images in it now! It is painted with Tim Holtz crackle paint in picket fence and then sponged with brushed cordoruy distress ink. I have then covered it in distressed panels of Magnolia papers, vanilla dots and old lace.
After colouring Tilda with distress inks I masked her and applied peel off hearts around her and then sponged with Tattered rose distress ink. I then removed the mask and the peel off hearts to reveal Tilda and her hearts surrounded by a heart background!! I added a heart lock which fastens the box and a heart key stamped and cut out. The key is hung on some jute string and fastened underneath a spray of blossoms and a rose, all from Wild orchid Crafts. One of my signature butterflies just peeps out from amongst the flowers LOL!
The box has lace around the edge and is fully decorated inside with a K&Co paper and a Magnolia heart lock and key stamp. I have written "Key to my heart" with my calligraphy pen. The white ribbon with the tulle and heart lock on has a magnet under the lock and there is another magnet on the front of the box under the papers so that the box stays closed.

Oh My Gosh, Jane, this is such a phenomenally gorgeous creation! I can't believe all the details and work that went into making this stunning keepsake box! It is really special, hun! Love the crackle paint it is just perfect!!! Tilda looks so beautiful and the effect with the hearts surrounding her is just brilliant...I absolutely love every little inch of this book box.
