Whiff of Joy DT - Christmas Blog Hop!

Good morning and welcome to the Whiff of Joy Blog Hop!!!!! The design team and guest designers have all been busy creating and even sending each other bits and pieces to use on our creations! There is lots happening at Whiff of Joy at the moment, don't forget Katharina's fabulous advent calendar giveaway on her own blog and of course there is currently a 20% off sale in the Whiff of Joy store too!!

You should have joined me from the lovely and talented Tanja's blog, if not, you may want to start at the beginning of the hop here. You could be the lucky winner of a 30 euro gift certificate for the Whiff of Joy store!!!! Now that is a prize worth having!!!

I've actually made too many Christmas cards this year can you believe!?! I have some left over and so rather than add another one to the pile I decided to make a small gift for my husband. I was inspired by Camilla's gorgeous book box and thought I'd have a go at making one myself. I have used a red, white and kraft colour scheme which I don't think I've used before but certainly will again - love it! The papers are from Magnolia distressed and inked with walnut stain distress ink.

I just had to use my favourite of this year's Whiff of Joy christmas images, the gorgeous praying angel. I've coloured her with copics and added stickles to her wings.

The gorgeous red poinsettia was a gift from the lovely Michele, the blossom is from Wild Orchid Crafts and the other flower is a Prima e line flower with some stamens I added. The gorgeous leaf sprays were made using two of Whiff of Joy's dies, the leaves die and holly die.

In the opposite corner I added another red flower from Michele and a rose from Wild Orchid Crafts together with more holly leaves. The pin is from my stash and I added the gorgeous silver bead to it.

On the spine of the book I added some gems and one of Whiff of Joy's stunning brads together with some die cut letters using Tim Holtz Market Street die. I opted for the French word for Christmas as the only short English word is Xmas and to be honest I don't really like it much (the word not the event LOL) and Christmas just wouldn't fit!

I created "book pages" with folded white cardstock which has been inked with walnut stain distress ink for an aged look.

The box is home to some lovely chocolates (another reason for the red and white theme!).

I used two more Whiff of Joy dies on the inside of the lid, the City Girls sentiment die and the tag die. Both the sentiments are from Whiff of Joy's seasons greetings sentiments set and the two brads are again from Whiff of Joy. The jute string was a gift from Tanja! She sent me the most gorgeous lace too.......

..........which I used to make this matching book mark!! It looks so striking layered over the red cardstock and I fastened it to the tag with two more Whiff of Joy brads. The word "read" was again done with Tim Holtz' die. I used more of the jute string to create a tassel with a gold bead.

Hope you've enjoyed my creation!!! Now it is time to hop on over to the lovely and so talented Sonja's blog!! Thanks for looking! x
