Homemade Flowers

Today I'd like to show you some flowers I had fun making last week.  After seeing Chelsea's tutorial showing how she made her gorgeous roses I thought I'd have a go.  You can see my attempt further down.  As I didn't have the dies Chelsea used it didn't turn out quite right so I decided to have a play around with my Tim Holtz Tattered Florals die instead, and these are what I came up with!  I am entering these into the Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Challenge so fingers crossed!
The blue flower was created using all the flowers the die cuts out, using Aida fabric and some stamens in the centre that I saved from a bought flower.
This rustic looking flower I created with just one cut out from the die.  To colour the fabric I used distress ink  and then I have stamped the Magnolia postcard stamp onto the fabric.  The flower is then wrapped around a brad to form the chunky centre.
For this flower I used some ivory organza that I have coloured with rose glimmer mist.  I used several layers of flower shapes for this one and passed each one through a candle flame to seal the edges and make them curl.  I added some stamens to the centre and then added gold micro beads here and there - it looks so beautiful in real life!
The small rose was made with two of the 5 petal die cuts with aida fabric stained with distress inks.
The hydrangea I made by cutting next to one of the petals and glueing two petals on top of each other to create a flower with just four petals.  A simple pearl bead is in the centre.
I also made a couple of butterflies with Tim Holtz butterfly dies.  I stamped them with a Tim Holtz music stamp and the Magnolia postcard stamp before adding stamens for antennae .
They are painted with picket fence crackle paint here and there.  That's my vintage collection in muted tones!  I was having so much fun I had a go at some brighter flowers for more modern projects.
Here's the rose I tried to make following Chelsea's tutorial but with different dies to the ones Chelsea used.  I used pink tissue paper instead of painting onto white.
This poor rose has seen too much rain!  I over did it a little with the ageing I tried to do on the ends of the petals lol!!  I'm pleased with my dew on the petals though - simply glossy accents!
Finally I have a gerbera flower I created using two layers of the daisy shaped flower from the Tattered Florals die and some more aida fabric.  I used some Flowersoft in the centre that was a gift from my lovely friend Louise - I think it looks so pretty as a flower centre!
I'd love to know what you think of my little flower and butterfly collection!!!  Thanks for looking! x

Hi Jane, I was over at Tim's blog looking at all the Tattered Flowers and your flowers were one of my favorites! I love how you used the Aida Cloth to make them. Good Luck Sweetie! I'll cross my fingers for you. It sounds like a great prize!
